Both foams are designed for use with the All Pond Solutions external filter range, but they serve different functions due to their density:

  • Blue foams (coarse grade): These act as the first stage of mechanical filtration, trapping larger particles and debris. Their open structure prevents clogging and ensures good water flow, making them ideal for basic waste collection.

  • White foams (fine grade): These provide a higher level of mechanical filtration, capturing much smaller particles that the coarse foam cannot retain. They are primarily used for water clarification, giving a polished, crystal-clear appearance. However, because they are finer, they may reduce flow rate if not cleaned regularly.

For best performance, both types are often used together—coarse foams first to catch larger waste, followed by fine foams for polishing the water.

Recommended Maintenance:

  • Rinse blue foams every 2–4 weeks, depending on stock levels and waste load. They are durable and can be reused many times.

  • Rinse or replace white foams more frequently—typically every 1–2 weeks—as they clog faster and lose efficiency over time.

For best results, use both together: coarse foam first to catch larger debris, followed by fine foam for polishing.
